Not only was Globalscape recognized for being a Champion in the Ad-Hoc Mid-Market use case, which represents organisations with 50-500 employees, but it was also named a Leader for Ad-Hoc Enterprise, an organisation with more than 500 employees that likely engages in “spontaneous, user driven file transfer.” Champion is the highest designation you can receive, with Leader being the second highest. Easier to use and even more secure – Cryptshare V3.9 released

One of the most important functions of Cryptshare is the ability to transfer files of any size across company borders securely. So far, however, it required a Java applet to be running in order to send files larger than 2 GB. This is no longer a requirement of the new version 3.9 of the Cryptshare. For administrators, this eliminates the efforts of installing, maintaining and supporting a Java Runtime Environment on the client side. Users no longer have to wait for the start of the Java Runtime Environment and they are no longer confronted with any warning messages if Java is not active, out of date, the start takes too long or Java is disabled in the browser. As a result, the level of security increases by the complete abandonment of Java or Flash, both of which need to be updated frequently due to security issues being found and fixed. But that’s not all – the new HTML5 mode also increases the upload speed to the Cryptshare server which is an important factor especially for large file transfers. The new upload mode is available for all current browsers that support HTML5. Currently, these are Internet Explorer 10 or higher, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. If users use one of these browsers, Cryptshare will automatically switch to HTML5 mode. Users can add any number of files to a transfer either clicking the “Add Files” button or dragging and dropping files in the web interface. The transfer modes offered so far (Java Mode and Simple Mode) remain present in the product. So even older browsers can continue to be used with...

Egress Switch Email Discovery launched to help organisations understand their workflows

Egress Software Technologies, today announces the launch of Egress Switch Email Discovery. Developed to help evaluate the types and quantities of confidential data being shared via email by specific departments and employees. Switch Email Discovery enables organisations to put in place robust information security policies, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation. Egress Chief Operations Officer Neil Larkins comments: “When implementing email security and data loss prevention measures, many organisations struggle to identify what types and classification of sensitive information are being shared by specific individuals and departments, as well as the quantities and regularity with which this is done. By silently monitoring all inbound and outbound emails, however, Switch Email Discovery provides this comprehensive analysis to ensure the correct remedial action can be taken.” Switch Email Discovery can scan for relevant and targeted content based on an individual organisation’s requirements. These can include key words or phrases, case reference numbers, document trends or types, and unstructured content. In addition, Switch Email Discovery also scans for a list of default universal policies, such as credit card and financial information, passport and National Insurance / Social Security numbers, child protection and adult social services content, and personally identifiable information. Once the monitoring process is complete, detailed analysis will be provided detailing key data sharing trends and specific areas of vulnerability, including information on: email message and attachments, senders and recipients, policy triggers, and message trends by volume and time. Larkins continues: “Switch Email Discovery enables organisations to take a switched-on approach to their data protection policy. By reporting data flows and any areas of concern, we are able to work alongside...
